Kalla stepped into Vallenth's weyr, wrapping her arms as far around the gold dragons big neck as she could. "Good morning Vallenth," Kalla said, smiling at her beautiful dragon. "And good morning to you too, Eriloth," She said with a bow of her head to the large bronze beside her queen. She turned to look up at Vallenth, who was gazing down at her with a calm blue eye, and made a soft crooning noise at seeing her rider.
"Did you sleep well?" Vallenth asked. Kalla smiled.
"I did," She said, scratching Vallenth's eye ridges when the dragon lowered her head hopefully. Kalla had had nightmares almost all night, and hadn't slept well at all, but Vallenth hadn't seem to notice, so there was no point in worrying the gold. She had been trying to block it from Vallenth so as not to distress her. "How did you sleep, love?" She asked, smiling when Vallenth's eyes closed in bliss.
"Fine," She said. "It was warm in the sun."
"I'm glad you were comfortable," Kalla said. She could hear the other dragons waking up, and a few of them speaking with one another.
"Eriloth, is B'dan up yet?" She asked the large bronze. She had moved to a smaller room just outside their sleeping quarters so as not to wake the Weyrleader with her tossing and turning all night. The fatigue she felt barely showed on her face, except for the dark circles under her eyes Kalla looked fine. "I want to check on the weyrling in the infirmary after he injured himself and his dragon trying to fly before they were ready." She knew B'dan would have been a Dragonhealer had Eriloth not caught her Vallenth. As she waited for an answer, she continued to scratch Vallenth's eye ridges.
